Bio

Amarilloan Left Dead On East Tenth Street By Hit and Run Driver. A man tentatively identified as William Reece, about 65, Amarillo, and as ticket taker at the Tri-State Fair grounds for the Morris and Castle Shows, was fatally run down in the seventeen hundred block on East Tenth Street, at 10:30 o’clock last night by a hit-and-run driver. The body was found on the pavement by a passing motorist and an N.S.Griggs & Sons Ambulance ruched the victim to St. Anthony’s hospital where he died shortly after arrival, just before 11 o’clock. He was identified by ticket numbers on cards in his pocket checked against the records of the show, officers and undertakers are attempting to verify information. No clues were obtained as to who hit the man. He had finished his work for the night and was walking west on the street toward town when struck. There was no money on his person. A “W.R.”was scratched on his watch. His clothes were purchased locally. It is not known which way the motorist was proceeding, in or out of town. The body was not marred except concussion and lacerations to the head.
