Francis Wood and Benjamin Singletary were married around 1848 in Thomas County, Georgia. Their 1850 U. S. Census lists them living in Thomas County with their son John (age 7 months); Benjamin’s occupation is farmer. Their 1860 U. S. Census lists the family living in Jasper County, Texas, with their five (inferred) children: Sowdet Singletary (10 yrs), Thos Singletary (7 yrs), Emily Singletary (6 yrs), Zenobia Singletary (4 yrs), and Florence Singletary (1 yr). Their 1870 U. S. Census lists them in Jasper County with seven (inferred) children: Thomas F Singletary (18 yrs), Emely D Singletary (16 yrs), Zenoba T Singletary (13 yrs), Florence A Singletary (9 yrs), Amelia B Singletary (6 yrs), Alexander Singletary (5 yrs), and Susan A Singletary (2 yrs). Francis Singletary’s 1900 U. S. Census lists she had 10 children, of which 8 were still living. Francis Singletary’s Texas Certificate of Death was the source of her Birth, Death, and Burial information. It is noted that Francis Singletary was not buried in the same cemetery as her husband Benjamin, Old Snyder Graveyard (he died in 1888). This is because that cemetery was closed to new burials in 1902.
