Joseph Wood Jr. was born on 22 June 1792, in Robeson County, North Carolina. He was the son of Joseph Wood and Mary. He married Amelia Singletary about 1820, in Bladen County, North Carolina. He died on 16 September 1854, in Jasper County, Texas, at the age of 62, and was buried in Zion Hill Cemetery, Jasper, Jasper County, Texas.
