Bio

Clarence Owen Miles, 95 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Life’s Journey Senior Living Center in Taylorville, IL. He was born on July 29, 1924 in Audubon, TWP in rural Montgomery County, IL the son of Clarence and Clara (Kroenlein) Miles. He married Helen Smothers on September 3, 1950 in Taylorville, IL. Clarence was a WWII Veteran serving under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge. On February 27, 1945 he was wounded and received the Purple Heart, ETO Ribbon, 2 Oak Leaves, Infantry Combat Badge and the Good Conduct Ribbon. Clarence retired from the Adolph Coors Brewing Company in Golden, CO. He is survived by his wife: Helen Miles of Taylorville, son: Jim of Denver, CO, two granddaughters, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Jeff, four sisters and one brother. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Rosemond Grove Cemetery in Rosamond, IL with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Memorials may be made to the Taylorville United Methodist Church 200 S. Walnut St. Taylorville, IL 62568. Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements. Suggested edit: Clarence was a 48 year member of South Gate #138 Masonic Lodge in Denver, Colorado. A Past Patron of South Gate Chapter #104 Order of the Eastern Star in Denver, Colorado. He also was a Past Royal Patron of Springfield Court #8 Order of the Amaranth in Springfield, Illinois and served as Grand Royal Patron of the Grand Court of Illinois, Order of the Amaranth in 1999 - 2000. Clarence served as Supreme Sword Bearer for the Supreme Council Order of Amaranth in 2003 - 2004. Contributor: Jim Miles
