TOWERY, Conrad Owen "Connie" of Rockdale. Age 86. Died 8/18/1988 (Thursday) in Richards Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Services held 8/20 (Sat.) in Phillips & Luckey Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in Salty Cemetery. Rev. Howard Buchanan officiated. He was BORN 2/1/1902 in Hazel Green, AL., to M/M. Owen F. & Mariah Ellen Jackson Towery. He was a raised in the Salty Comm. and was a mechanic for 40 yrs., retiring in 1960's from Gaither Ford in Rockdale. After retirement, Mr. Towery started his own lawnmower repair services which he operated out of his home for many years. Married Mary Pauline Fleming in 5/1926 in Milam Co. Member of Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Towery, on 6/8/1957; son, Jimmy Towery, 6/4/1983; daughter, Margie Towery; parents, Owen and Mariah Towery; 2 brothers, A.C. and Leon Towery. SURVIVORS: Daughter, Judy Armstrong of Mesquite; 2 brothers, Mark Towery and Philip Towery, both of Thorndale; sister, Norma Caffey of Salty; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; number of nieces and nephews.
