Lee Roy Stanley Miklis, age 87, of Rowlett, Texas passed away on Sunday May 10, 2020. Lee Roy was born on April 9, 1933 in Dallas, Texas to Sophie Taborsky (later Tabor), who was 16. The 1935/1940 census shows Sophie Bryant and son Lee Roy Bryant listed as lodgers in the home of Sophie's widowed mother. Two of Sophie's sisters and a brother-in-law also resided there. Sophie is listed as divorced: however, there is no record of a marriage or a divorce. Whether Bryant was the surname of Lee Roy's father is unknown. Sophie met widower Anton Louis "Tony" Miklis, who had a three year old son named Joe Anton Miklis. They married on 17 Feb 1944 in Kaufman County, Texas. Tony adopted Lee Roy on 28 Sep 1944. Per Texas law, the original birth certificate was destroyed. Whether the original brith certificate said his name was Lee Roy Tabor, Lee Roy Bryant, or some other name, is unknown. The replacement birth certificate was then issued listing Sophie Tabor as the mother and Anton Miklis as the father. Lee Roy Miklis attended Crozier Technical High School in Dallas. He later met and married Verna Lucille Yates on 10 Feb 1956 in Dallas. They were the parents of three children. Lee Roy was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and brother. A graveside service for Lee Roy was held Monday, May 18, 2020 from 2:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. He was buried in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas.
