Kathleen Mary (Kern) Hiykel, age 69, of Minnetoka, MN passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. Kathleen was born on August 25, 1948 in Omaha, NE to Conard and Agnes Kern. Kathleen attended Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart High School in Omaha, NE. Then received her bachelor's degree in education from Creighton University in Omaha. She married James Hiykel in 1970 in Omaha, NE the couple were blessed with two children Meeghan and Edward. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, one brother John Kern. Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband James Hiykel; two children: Meeghan (Dennis) Burnevik and Edward (Kristin) Hiykel; two grandchildren: Carolyn and James; three brothers: James, Michael, and Terrance. Kathleen's Mass of Catholic Burial will be Monday, Dec 11 at 11AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (13505 Excelsior Blvd., Minnetonka, MN) with visitation one hour before Mass at church.
