Brown Genealogy (part 2) "Asa Brown (123) (Ichabod (32), John (8), Thomas), b. July 29, 1740; m., Feb. 12, 1767, Deborah Grant, b. June 6, 1746; dau. of Oliver Grant, of Stonington, and his wife, Silence Williams. (For her ancestry, see the supplement to the Grant Genealogy, "Grant Family Magazine, " p. 774. The facts as to her descent were not ascertained at the time of the publication of the original volume, but have been conclusively established since.) Asa Brown served in the Revolutionary War. he was a private in Capt. James Arnold's company, the Ninth Continentals, and in Col. David Wooster's regiment. This regiment was raised in April and May, 1775, marched to New York in June, and encamped at Haarlem Sept. 28. Later it was in the Northern Department, operating along Lakes George and Champlain, assisted in the reduction of St. Johns in October, and afterwards proceeded to Montreal. He was discharged Nov. 28, 1775. He removed to Brookfield, Madison County, New York, about 1800, and settled on the farm afterwards owned by his son Williams. He d. Jan. 15, 1818, and his wife, Nov. 25, 1816. Both are buried in the private burial-lot of the family on the old homestead, as is also their daughter Silence. The dates of their deaths are taken from their tombstones." - Carol (#47819893)
