Bio

Betty Pendergraft was born October 21, 1930, to Dorothy and Henry Baldridge in Lyford, Texas. She passed away May 7, 2018. Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. She was a lifelong member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Betty worked for Pioneer Corporation for many years and advanced to corporate officer in an era when few women succeeded in business. She married George Baucum, Jr., and had three children, Richard, Leigh and Susan. After George's death, she met Tom Pendergraft at church, and they created a new blended family with children, Lynn, Garey and Dee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, George and Tom, and daughter, Leigh. She is survived by her children and spouses, Richard and Patricia Baucum, Lynn and Bob Newman, Garey and Karen Pendergraft, Dee and Doug Sauve, Susan and Mitch McIntire, eleven grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Stanley, many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends including Herb Sanders, Millie and Butch Testerman and her sisters in Beta Sigma Phi and Golden Girls. Betty had a gift for entertaining, especially at holiday time, and would invite anyone who didn't have a place to go. Family dinners were important to her, and with a servant's heart, she was always last to the table. She loved her family more than life, and focused on the good in all. She spent her spare time fishing any chance she could, especially with her brother, Stan, and had a green thumb for gardening.
