(This gravesite was visited in the 1980's by my grandmother Lizzie, his sister, before her death. The grave was found to be hidden behind or inside a massive bush. Interestingly, he was buried with an orange in his hands. There is no current photo taken for this grave and there was no previous memorial made making me wonder if the headstone is hidden again. ) Paul Rainey Son Of R N & E M Moodey Born July 4 1905 Died Dec 16 1909 Sleep On Dear Child And Take Thy Rest In Jesus' Arms Forever Blest Paul Rainey Moody is son to Robert Nathaniel Moody and Emily Caroline M Moody. The family moved to Texas a few years after his death. My Grandmother Lizzie Agnes (Moody) Lane made a family trip back to Mississippi and saw his grave one final time before her passing. Being born during a decade and passing before the end of it, he is not listed on any family census record for this family. "Rainey died at 5 years of age when his gown caught on fire when he was playing with rolled up pieces of paper at the fire place. Lizzie, his older sister, was the only one in the house with him at the time. She was 13 years old. She was home from school with the pink eye. She ran to get her Mother who was washing clothes outside. Grandma wrapped her long skirts around him and her hands were burned very bad. He inhaled the flames as he was screaming and died later that night. Grandmother Lizzie never quite got over it. She couldn't talk about it without crying. We visited Rainey's grave. It has a lamb on it. She also said Rainey had just gotten a big orange that he was proud of and it was placed in his hands in his casket. Another part of the story that Grandmother Lizzie always told that some might find interesting is that before Rainey died that night, Grandma Moody was laying in bed and she said a very large angel with wings appeared in her room and it laid it's wings over her chest. She knew then that Rainey was going to die and he would be ok." There are two E.A. Rineharts in the same cemetery. I believe one to be Rainey's maternal grandmother Ellie (Eleanor?) Ann Rinehart and possibly another young grandchild of hers. E.A. Rinehart was 14 and I am researching for this one's identity in the family tree to prove that this is her grandchild possibly with a shared name. Ellie is not buried with her husband George M. Rinehart. Her being buried with 1, possibly 2 grandchildren, seems fitting. There may be some Moody relations in the cemetery, but none that are immediate family. They left for Texas a few years after Rainey's death.
