Sullivan Newspaper 11/8/1948 Funeral services were held Saturday,Oct 30, at 3:30 oclock in McMullin Funeral home for James C. Cummins, 62, who passed away Thursday, Oct 28, in his home in Sullivan.The services were conducted by Rev. Delmar Talley with interment in Greenhill cemetery. Casket bearers were G. R. Fleming, H. E. Loeb, F. W. Wood, L. P. Dickerson,John Cazel and Jim Pifer. Mr.Cummins was born Dec, 31, 1886, in Sullivan,the son of J.M. and Amanda Wright Cummins. He was married to Nina Drew. His entire life was spent in Sullivan where he and his brother, Dave Cummins, have been in the hardware business for many years. Mr.Cummins suffered a light stroke on Oct. 15 and a more severe one Oct 17, from which he never recovered. Surviving are his wife, two sons, James of Sullivan and Charles of Chicago, one daughter, Mrs. Jack Matheson of Sullivan,one brother, Dave of Sullivan, three sisters Mrs. Ella Ellinger of Louisville, Ky, Mrs. Harry Harsh of Sullivan, Mrs. J.A. Fitzgerall of Sprngfield,Mo, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Other relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Jacob Edinger of Louisville,Ky,Mr.and Mrs.Everett Smith of Chicago,Mr. and Mrs.Bob Hicks of Chillicothe and Mrs. Carroll Cassity of Decatur.
