ORD — Carol Beck, 80, of Ord passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City. It was Carol’s wishes to donate her body to the Nebraska Anatomical Board. A Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Scotia Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Middendorf will officiate. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Carol was born May 27, 1936, at Wolbach to Lloyd and Effie (Scripture) Peterson. The family moved to Greeley when Carol was 3. She attended Boston Valley School, where her mother was the teacher. Carol graduated from Scotia High School in May of 1953. She then attended Hastings Beauty College and received her cosmetology license in 1954. She married Bernard Beck on July 11, 1954. To this union three children were born: Debra Lynn, Kristi Rae and Kraig Alan. Carol started working for the North Loup-Scotia Schools in 1972 and retired in 2002. She had a great love for the students and her job. Carol’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Deb and David Orthman of North Loup and Kris Reeves of Loup City; a son and daughter-in-law, Kraig Beck and his wife, Ellen Hatfield-Nicholson, of Cotesfield; six grandchildren, Shawn Orthman, Dani Knott and husband, Ross, Ryan Reeves, Ryley and wife, Mindy, Reeves, Layne and his wife, Ashley, Reeves and Truman Beck; seven great-grandchildren, Riley, Trey and Macy Warner and Lane Knott, Ethan, Kaden and Troy Reeves; a sister-in-law, Mildred Beck; and a lifelong friend, Phyllis Cargill. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard Beck; a son-in-law, Mark Reeves; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Orville and Emily Peterson and Donald and Arlene Peterson; and a nephew, Steve Peterson.
