Services for Lenfred L. Carnes, 65, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with Bro. James Coffman officiating. Burial will be in Muse Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Mr. Carnes died Sunday, August 5, 2007, after battling a long illness. He was born May 15, 1942 in Palestine to Orun C. and Addie Prater Carnes. Mr. Carnes was a member of Sand Flat Baptist Church. He had been a barber in Palestine for 12-years and retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 31 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Kay Carnes of Palestine; daughter Tana Herring and husband Greg of Elkhart; son Mark Carnes and wife Melissa of Conroe; five grandchildren: Clint Herring and wife Nicole, Kayla Herring, Taylor Carnes, Corbin Carnes and Ty Carnes, as well as two great-grandchildren: Claire and Kay Herring; brother, Mitchell Carnes and wife Barbara and sisters Vernetta Walker and Lanova Mitchell as well as many friends. Pallbearers will be Scooter Bedre, Tandy Shaw, Ronald Mitchell, Keith Carnes, Damon Carnes and Dwight Franklin. (Palestine Herald-Press Aug 7, 2007)
