Funeral services for Mitchell W. Carnes 77 of Elkhart, Texas will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Bro. Jack Smith, Jr. and Bro. Jeffrey Craft officiating. Burial will be in Strong Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine. Mr. Carnes May 19, 2013 at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born June 14, 1935 in Anderson County to Orun and Addie Prater Carnes. He was retired from Sprint, and was a member of Elkhart United Methodist Church. Mr. Carnes was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Michael Carnes; and brother, Lenfred Carnes. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Wilson Carnes; daughte,r Melanie Beshears and husband Jeff of Buffalo; son, Keith Carnes of Elkhart; sisters, Vernetta Walker, and Lanova Mitchell; and grandchildren, Ross and Cade Beshears, whom he loved spending time with.
