"United States War of 1812 Index to Pension Application Files, 1812-1910", , FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X8CG-RQZ : Wed Dec 13 20:18:26 UTC 2023), Entry for John Harper and Sarah Hurst. ===== He drowned in the Mississippi River on his return trip from Claiborne County, Tennessee to Missouri after settling the estate of his father-in-law Thomas Hurst. His wife Sarah, and sons Richard and Hiram provided specifics in their affidavits and application for his War of 1812 pension, about how he either fell or was pushed from the boat carrying him across the river. ========= Contributor: David Goode (49372965)
