Bio

ROEPKE, John of Taylor, formerly of Thrall. Age 86. Died 3/19/1973 (Monday) after several weeks of illness. Funeral services held at 4 p.m. (Wed.) at the Condra Funeral Home in Taylor. Burial was in Taylor City Cemetery. Rev. James Heineke officiated. Condra Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were grandsons. He was born 1/9/1887 at Thrall and a retired farmer. Married on 8/13/1908 to Miss Mary Hirt. He was a lifelong member of St.John Lutheran church in Thrall. M/M. Rouse had made their home in the Sweetbriar Nursing Home in Taylor for several years. Preceded in death by daughter, 2 brothers, and a sister. SURVIVORS: Wife, Mary of Taylor; 2 daughters, Mrs. Buddy Limmer of San Gabriel and Mrs. Alfred Zapalac of Taylor; 3 sons, Lee Roepke of Taylor, Johnny C. Roepke of Round Rock and Joe Roepke of Austin; 9 grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Herbert Roepke and Alvin Roepke of Thorndale; a number of nieces and nephews.
