Bio

Omaha, Earl Weidner, 64, formerly of Greeley, died Tuesday, August 9, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Omaha. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Loren Pohlmeier will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 186 of Greeley. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to and 9 p.m. at the church, with rosaries at 4p.m. Dolce-Scheef Mortuary in Spalding is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Weidner was born Sept. 4, 1929, on a farm near Brayton to Raymond J. and Corrine H. (Connelly) Weidner. He attended rural schools in Greeley County and Sacred Heart High School. In 1950 he entered the U.S. Navy and served in Korea during the Korean War. He married Katie Albers in 1952. Following his discharge in 1954, he lived in Columbus, Omaha and Wichita, Kan., where he was primarily a heavy equipment operator. Mrs. Albers died in July 1955 as the result of an automobile accident. He married Catherine Zelasney Nov. 4, 1961. She died in 1972. He lived in Wichita until becoming ill with cancer. He had lived for the past month in Omaha. He is survived by his mother, Corrine Weidner of Greeley; three brothers, Ray and Tom, both of Omaha, and Jerry of Lincoln; and three sisters, Alice (Mrs. Fred) Glaser of Spalding, Margy (Mrs. Jim) Fleming of Omaha and Mary Lu Weidner of Glendale, Calif.
