Alyce J Glaser, 87, formerly of Spalding, NE passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Brookefield Park Skilled Nursing at St. Paul, NE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding with Rev. Christopher Stoley and Rev. Antony Thekkekara officiating. Burial will follow in the parish Cemetery. Dolce-Scheef Mortuary of Spalding, NE is in charge of arrangements. Alyce Joyce Glaser was born June 2, 1928, to Ray and Corrine (Connelly) Weidner at Brayton, NE. She grew up on a farm near Greeley and graduated from Sacred Heart School. After graduation, she worked in a glove factory in Grand Island. Later she moved back to Greeley and worked for Dr. Brennan. She married Fred Glaser on February 21, 1950 at Sacred Heart Church in Greeley. They made their home on a farm near Spalding where they raised their 9 children together. One of Alyce’s greatest joys was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Alyce had a love for dancing, crafts, working in the yard and playing cards with family and friends. Her gift of hospitality made everyone who entered her home feel like part of the family. Alyce was an active member of St. Michael’s Church, St Gerard Club, St Ann’s Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters. Survivors include 5 daughters and 4 sons. Suzanne & Dan Tenski, Kathy & Chuck Sweeney, Ray & Pam Glaser, Pam & Gary Penne, Ron & Cindy Glaser, Jeanette & Bob Nordhues, Jim & Linda Glaser, Margy & Mark Stoley, and Tony & Karen Glaser. Two sisters, MaryLu Weidner and Margy & Jim Fleming. Three brothers, Ray & Florence Weidner, Jerry & Esther Weidner and Tom & Susie Weidner. 35 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, parents, brother Earl Weidner and granddaughter Jennifer Stoley.
