Son of Christeen Jackson Simmons and William Allen Simmons. +++ OBITUARY NOTICE - UNKNOWN DATE AND PUBLISHER: JUNE 1985: PUBLISHED IN LOCAL PAPER WILLIAM EARL SIMMONS MAY 8, 1897 TO JUNE 19, 1985 William Earl Simmons, 88, of Stratford, died Wednesday, June 19, 1985, in Pauls Valley. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 22, at 3 pm in the Stratford First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Campbell (grandson) officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Carl Shivers. Interment will be in McGee Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home of Stratford. Simmons, born May 8, 1897, in McGregor, Texas, was a retired farmer who lived in the Stratford area for the past 40 years. He married Mattie Pearl Brown at Seven Shooter on April 29, 1917. He was member of the Stratford First Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Mattie, of the home; two daughters, Edith Sheppard of Pauls Valley and Evelyn Moore of Stratford; two sons, Dale Simmons of Battle Ground, Wash. and Bob Simmons of Stratford; one brother, Roy Simmons of Mobile, Alabama; one sister, Nora Palmer of Pinedale, Calif; one half-sister, Dorothy West of Ardmore; 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
