Dorothy Ellen Hanna, 79, of Boise passed away Saturday, June 21, 2007 at her home under the loving care of her husband, Orville and her children and sister. Dorothy was born Feb. 21, 1928 in Muskogee, Okla. to Vester and Margaret Bridgewater. She married Louis Johnston and moved to Idaho where she had three children in the Coeur d' Alene, Idaho area. Dorothy worked as a homemaker as she raised her young children. In 1966, she met and married Hanna and moved to Boise. Dorothy worked as an Instrument Technician at St. Luke's Hospital for 18 years before her retirement in 1990. On Aug. 1, 2007, Dorothy and Orville would have celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Dorothy had a warm and caring heart especially for children and animals. Her home was always open to anyone down on their luck and many lost pets found a permanent home with her. After their retirements, Dorothy and Orville enjoy their winter home and many friends in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Dorothy was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Orville; and her three children, Claudia and husband, Lynn of Farmington, N.M., Rock Johnston of Plains, Mont., Todd and wife, Kim of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Billie Campbell; sister-in-law, Ruth Avants; numerous nieces, nephews, and two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother; father; brothers; sisters; brother-in-law; and stepson. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 11 a.m., at Dry Creek Cemetery for close family and friends. Dorothy Hanna, observer and collector of beautiful things.
