Lenora M. "Lynn" Gallinger, 85, died on January 13, 2020 at the Indiana University Health White Memorial Hospital emergency room in Monticello, IN. She was born on June 24, 1934 in Reynolds, IN to the late John and Mary (Haysley) Altman. On May 2,1970 in Monticello, she married C. Gerald Gallinger; he survives. Lenora grew up in the rural Monon, IN area as a farmer’s daughter. She was a 1952 graduate of Monon High School. After graduating, she worked as a telephone operator for the former United Telephone Company in Monticello, where she gained lifelong friends. In 1970, she married the love of her life, Charles Gerald Gallinger. The two of them handbuilt their home on South Springboro. In 1973, she left United Telephone Company and began her new passion raising her son and babysitting for numerous families. She babysat for the next 25 years. However, she was probably best known for her concrete lawn ornament business which she ran with her husband. This was a true team operation with Lenora doing the detail painting and sales while Gerald poured and prepped the concrete. Lenora was a longtime member of the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and had sat in the same pew for decades. Her passion was her family. One of the greatest joys for her was chatting with her grandchildren on the phone. Lenora is survived by her husband; one son; two grandchildren; five siblings; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Herbert Altman. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be at 5:30 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the funeral home. Father David L. Rasner of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Yeoman Cemetery.
