Mason County News, January 3, 2018. Nolan G. Henry passed away December 19, 2017, in Midland, Texas. He was born January 31, 1930, in Art, Texas, the son of Edith Calloway Henry and William Livingston Henry. He is proceeded in death by his parents Edith and William Henry, 5 sisters, Elna, Angeline, Velma, Ruby, and Dorothy, 2 brothers Marvin and James Henry. He is survived by his 3 children Michael Augustus Henry, Rebecca Henry Stephens, and James Raymond Henry, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Nolan G Henry lived a full and fruitful life. A Retired United States Marine, MGYSGT Nolan G Henry served 22 years in the Corps, a highly decorated veteran of Korea and Vietnam conflicts, receiving 2 Purple Hearts, Bronze Star with Combat V, Navy Commendation with Combat V and many others. Senior Drill Instructor at Parris Island Recruit Training Depot, Associate Professor at Auburn University training Navy Midshipmen. Nolan G Henry was a lover of life and the outdoors, whether landscaping, hunting, fishing, cooking or gardening, Nolan put his all into everything he did and touched many, many lives in the process. Always positive, helpful, and strong. Nolan will be remembered for his courage, loyalty, honesty, hard work and most of all, his smile and cheerful personality. He Will Be Missed. A Memorial Service Will Be Held on Friday, January 5th at 3:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Midland. Also on January 6th at 2:00 PM there will be a Memorial Service in Mason, Texas at the Gooch Cemetery. SEMPER FI MARINE
