Dorothy Jewel Henry Harlow of Brownwood, Texas, passed away peacefully Monday, January 23, 2017, in Celina, Texas, after losing her long battle with Alzheimer’s. Dorothy Harlow was born July 16, 1927 in Art, Texas and was one of seven children born of the late William Livingston Henry and Edith Callaway Henry of Mason County. She attended school in Fly Gap, Texas. Dorothy married James “Dale” Harlow of Llano, Texas, on April 7, 1945, and together they had six children and were married for 66 years. Dorothy was a homemaker while living in Richland Springs, Texas, with Dale and her growing family. She joined Dale with the operation of the family turkey business and eventually the family moved to Brownwood in 1970. Helping others was her calling, and she worked as an aide in several nursing homes and later as a nurse’s aide at Brownwood Regional Hospital where she was loved and respected. Dorothy was raised in the Methodist church. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend Dorothy was a wonderful combination of grace and warmth, laughter and love, encouragement and kindness. She never met a stranger and welcomed all to her home. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents William and Eva Henry, brothers Ray and James Henry, sisters Elna Koelling, Angeline Nehr, Ruby Pinkerton and Velma Tuckness as well as her granddaughter Joy Harlow. Dorothy was survived by her beloved children, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. from obituary at Heartland Funeral Home
