Bio

Hamilton A. Wiggs, 69, 2025 Wall St., a retired railroad switchman, died Friday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Wiggs was a switchman for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years until his retirement four years ago. He was born March 24, 1907, at Mapleton, Iowa. He married Dorothy Weis July 3, 1941, at Struble, Iowa. Mr. Wiggs had resided in Sioux City since 1941, and he was a member of the Eagles club. Survivors include the widow; four sons, James and Charles, both of Sioux City, Arlen of Muscatine Iowa, and David of Whitehall, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Phillips of Lexington, Mass., and Mrs. Mary Trometer of Omaha; three brothers, Donald of Las Cruces, N. M., Merrill of Sloan, Iowa, and Mike of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Kinny of Onawa, Iowa, and Mrs. Doris Carpenter of Sioux City; 28 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The body was taken to the Larkin Northside Funeral Home. The Sioux City Journal, July 11, 1976 ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Services for Hamilton A. Wiggs, 69, 2025 Wall St., will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home with the Rev. Msgr. Edward C. Lilly officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Craig, Daniel, Dean, Jerome, Roy and Mark Wiggs. Mr. Wiggs died Friday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. He married Dorothy A. Weis July 3, 1931 at Struble, Iowa. Their marriage date was listed incorrectly in Sunday’s Journal. The Sioux City Journal, July 12, 1976
