SHERMAN – Despite our sorrow at his absence, the family of Carl Minton rejoices for him as he was called from this life. He would have been 93 years old in just a few short days. Carl was a one time realtor then follow his dream and became a life long farmer. A Shriner and member of the Edwin J. Kiest Masonic Lodge 1310 of Dallas, Texas, Carl was a man of great faith and knew that while faith confirms the promise of peace, it expresses the command to love. Above all of his other virtues, Carl was a loving person. Carl believe that the work of God is manifested in the actions of each man and woman in their own time and place. He lived his faith on earth to earn his place in Heaven. Carl's life is best characterized in a paraphrase of Chapter 21 of the Gospel of St. Luke and in a verse from a hymn by Stuart Hine: "Beware that our hearts do not become drowsy from the intensity of daily life and end-times catch you by surprise. For the end-times will assault everyone who lives. Be vigilant and pray that you will have the strength to stand before the Son of Man." "When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! And I shall bow in humble adoration and there proclaim My God, how great thou art!" Carl is preceded in death by his parents John J. and Lillian Minton and his brothers Johnnie and George . Left to cherish his memories, he is survived by his devoted wife, Jean; daughter, Joyce Williams of Dallas; daughter Janet Marmion and her husband Joseph of Bolton Massachusetts; grand-daughter, Melody Davis and her husband Larry of Greenville, Texas; grandson, Todd Stoker and his wife Victory of The Colony, Texas; grand-daughter Kelly Champion and her husband Christopher of Nashville, Tennessee; and great grand-children Brandon and Jessica Stoker of The Colony; and Clayton Davis of Greenville.
