Bio

Mattie Lenora Murchison Purcell was the fifth and youngest child born to Peter Alexander Murchison Sr and Ada Bell Barnett. The family lived in Bastrop County, Texas. Mattie's father died in 1904 when she was only three years old. Her mother married Amasa Bartlett Sr. The family moved to Austin, Texas. Mattie married Alva Lee "Abe" Purcell in 1922. They had one daughter - Barbara Madelyn Purcell. Mattie's mother, Ada Barnett Bartlett lived with Mattie and her husband until her death in 1966.
