Bio
Anna Pearl Kippes, 89, of Johnson, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born Jan. 17, 1909, in Morton County, the daughter of Albert and Maude Sarah (Bussey) Bitner. On Aug. 21, 1928, she married Joseph Kippes. A homemaker, Mrs. Kippes was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church of Johnson. She is survived by a son, Duane E. Kippes, Rose Hill; two daughters, Lucille F. Riedel and Juanita Pearl Sosa, both of Johnson; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, LaVerne J. Kippes. Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Johnson. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. John Kowal officiating. Burial will be in Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson. Visitation hours are from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home (formerly Figgins-Phillips Funeral Home) at Johnson. Memorials are to the church or Stanton Long Term Care Unit, both in care of the funeral home, 605 W. North Ave., Johnson, KS 67855.
