Wichita Falls - Rudolph Roy Pokorny, 93, of Wichita Falls passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019. A Rosary and Vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2019 in the Chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, with a visitation to follow. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 19 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jonathan Demma, celebrant. Rite of Committal with military honors will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Roy was born on May 13, 1926 in Wichita Falls to the late Frank and Albina (Michna) Pokorny. Roy served his country proudly in World War II in the Merchant Marines, and was recently honored for his service by the 2nd Battalion, 18th FA at Fort Sill. During his time in the Merchant Marines, Roy saw the Philippines, Japan, Australia, and the Panama Canal. He married Roselia Loran on February 18, 1950, and the couple were married for 54 years until her passing in 2004. Roy owned and operated Roy's used cars for many years. No matter his occupation, Roy worked hard to provide for his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1473, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Roy always had a smile on his face. Most recently, he had resided at the Lawton/Fort Sill Veteran's Center. While at the center, he touched the lives of the staff, and residents. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Carolyn Phelps; three brothers, and one sister. Roy is survived by children Anne Hopkins, Sue Sanner and husband Garry, and Roylene Quintero; son-in-law Pat Phelps; grandchildren Paul Hopkins and wife Shannon, Christopher Lemley, Steven Lemley, Roy Eperjesi, Joe Eperjesi, Hunter Quintero, and Loren Quintero; great-grandchildren Bryan Rutledge, Lexi Lemley, Taylor Lemley, and Andrew Hopkins; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews.
