********************************************* Fremont Tribune (NE) - Tuesday, October 29, 2002 The funeral for Donald H. Sobolik, 78, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. He died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Fremont Area Medical Center. He was born Sept. 18, 1924, in Bruno, where he grew up. He was a graduate of David City High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Bruno and worked at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant at Mead. He moved to Fremont in 1945 and was employed at George A. Hormel & Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He married Florence Van Horn Aug. 18, 1945, in Marysville, Kan. Sobolik was a member of Fremont Alliance Church, Izaak Walton League and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 and Hormel Retirees, all in Fremont. Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Mary Helen (Mrs. Robert) Butler of Casper, Wyo.; a brother, Elmer (and wife, Marcie) Sobolik of Omaha; and two grandchildren. The Rev. Tom Shaw of the Church of the Nazarene will officiate Wednesday's service. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today with family receiving friends 6:30-8 p.m. today, all at the funeral home. Visitation continues 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont. Military graveside services will be conducted by Fremont Honor Guard of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.
