Bio

James "Jaz" Edward Zhanel, 66, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, in Ennis, Texas. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Jaz was born on December 15, 1952, in Ennis, Texas, to the late Stanley F. and Rosie Marie (Patak) Zhanel. He grew up in Ennis and attended St. John Catholic Schools and Ennis High School. Jaz worked for Elk Roofing Company for over twenty years retiring in 2003. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, KJT, Sokol, and the American Legion as an associate member. Jaz loved riding his Harley. His family was the light of his life especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and he also enjoyed being around people and having people come to visit. He was preceded in death by brothers, David and Ronnie. Survivors include his daughter, Tina Polson and her husband, Terry; son, Joe Zhanel and his wife, Samantha; grandchildren: Courtney, Blake, Taylor, and Leann; great-grandchildren, Ella and Bradley; sisters, Della Vinson and Diana King; and many extended family members and friends.
