Jacob Cooley Sr. is traced back to Henrico Co., Virginia and I think he is the son of Abraham Cowley, Jr. (1691-1779) and Anne Ware Rockett (1694-aft. 1780),a daughter of Rev. Jacob Ware and Susannah Adams. Jacob had moved west about 1772, before his parents died. In 1764 he was in Cumberland Co., VA, moved 1772 to Amherst Co., VA, 1777 to Pittsylvania Co., VA, and 1790 to Greenville Co., SC. Known children of Jacob and Sarah: 1. Glatha "Gleasey" (1754-?); married 19 Jun 1779 Pittsylvania Co., VA, William Vincent, and moved to Kentucky. 2. Nancy (1756-1809); married 19 May 1779 Pittsylvania Co., VA, David Reese. 3. Elizabeth (1758-1851); married 17 Sep 1779 Pittsylvania Co., VA, Ezekiel Vincent. 4. Jacob Cooley, Jr. (1760-1825); married 5 Apr 1787 Pittsylvania Co., VA, Nancy Gover (1763-aft. 1842) 5. Sarah Jordan "Sally" (1760-1848); married 1 Oct 1785 Pittsylvania Co., VA, Samuel Roberts. 6. Judith "Jude" (1775-1838); married 1st about 1791, Daniel Cothran; 2nd about 1808, Jesse Sparks; 3rd about 1826, Hezekiah Cockrum. ___________________________________________ Will of Jacob Cooley: Greenville Co., South Carolina. In the name of God, Amen, I Jacob Cooley of the State & Dist. as above, being SOUTH CAROLINA weak in Body but of Sound Memory & understanding, knowing that it is appointed once for Man to Die, and after to Come to Judgement do Constitute this my last will and Testament and what worldly Goods it has been Please God to Bless me with, I do Give & Bestow in manner Following, and first I bequeath my Soul to God who gave it, and my body to be Buried in a Decent manner According to the Will of my Executors hereafter Named. I bequeath to my Dearly Beloved Wife Sarah my Land houses etc. whereon I now Live together with my two negroes June and Cate, with all my Beds Household and Kitchen Furniture also my horses Cattle and Hogs During her life and after her Decease, to be Equally Divided among my five Children after all my Just Debts is paid [ie] Glatha, Elizabeth, Jacob, Sarah and Juda, I also bequeath to the heirs of Nancy Holliday one Spanish Mill Dollar Each after the Decease of my wife Sarah, I also appoint my wife Sarah and my son Jacob and William Few my Lawfull Executors of this my Last will & Testament Revoking and Annulling all other will or Wills heretofore, in the presents of James Garner Jacob [x] Cooley Wm.
