Kenneth Maurice “Muddy” Waters, 72, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 25, 2019. Burial will be at Rest-Ever Memorial Park. Kenneth was born on November 22, 1946, in Harris County, Texas, to the late Cecil Maurice and Rita Mae Weaver Waters. Kenny graduated from of C.E. King High School in Pasadena in 1965 and then attended Lee Junior College in Baytown. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967 and served his country until 1973 serving in Japan and Hawaii during the Vietnam War. He married Sherry Springer on November 29, 1969, in Franklin, Texas. After he left the service, he was employed as a welder until his retirement where he earned the nickname “Muddy Waters” from his co-workers. He later was employed with Franklin I.S.D. as a bus driver. Kenny had been a resident of Franklin for the past 50 years and attended the Easterly Baptist Church. Kenny was described best as a gun enthusiast and You Tube pro on fishing, hunting, and reloading ammo for all the hunters in Robertson County. He enjoyed sighting in guns for people, woodworking, and welding. In his later years, he drove a bus for Franklin I.S.D. and was known as the “singer”. He always had a funny tune to entertain the kids with. It was while working at Franklin I.S.D., he became known as “Mr. Muddy”. Kenny was easily spooked and it could become very humorous at times when friends and co-workers would try and scare him. His most precious time was spent taking his great-grandson for rides on the gator to go catch minnows in the pond. He was preceded in death by a son, Justin Waters; infant brother, Gary Waters and brother, Greg Waters. Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Sherry Waters, of Franklin; daughter, Missy Liner and her husband, Stacy, of Franklin; and son, W.D. Waters, of Franklin; grandchildren: Kyle Liner and his wife, Jordan, Shelbi Liner, Savannah Waters, Weston Waters, Alaeha Waters, Isabella Waters, and Justine Brown; great-grandchild, Bowen Campbell; other relatives and many friends.
