Our beloved mother whom trusted Jesus Christ and loved all the people of the world, you don’t have to be patient with me, God is finished with me here on earth. Lorelyn Powers, 72 of Stratford passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Monday, October 22, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Stratford with Pastor Mike officiating. Interment will follow in the Stratford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 o’clock in the morning until 1 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday and then again from 5 o’clock in the evening until 7 o’clock in the evening on Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Lorelyn was born on August 27, 1947 in Amarillo, TX to Homer Lorel and Mari Jo Brown Haile. Lorelyn graduated from Stratford High School and would later attend Clarendon Jr College. Lorelyn spent her life in Stratford and as a caregiver working at Coldwater Manor. She was also an avid supporter and volunteer at the Depot Museum. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church since October 13, 1957 where she was very active and was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Moonshiners Home Demonstrators Club. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Lorelyn is survived by her children: Joy Aro and husband Matt of Amarillo, TX, Matthew Wayne Powers of Stratford, TX and Michael Wayne Powers and wife Lori of Granbury, TX; grandchildren: Devan Thomas and husband Tobiray, Timmie “Jo” Aro and Cameron Powers; siblings: Marian Williams and husband Ronald of Burnett, TX and Homer Alan Haile and wife Patty; numerous other extended family members. The family suggest with gratitude that memorials be made to the Depot Museum in Stratford.
