Bio

Homer L. Haile, 82, of Amarillo, died Friday, August 13, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell Street, with Dr. David Evans, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Additional services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Stratford with the Rev. Jerry Stewart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery in Stratford. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Haile was born in Afton and lived most of his life in Stratford. He played football while a freshman at Texas Tech and served with the Army during World War II. In Stratford, he was a farmer and rancher until his retirement and was a deacon at First Baptist Church, where he was a member for more than 30 years. In 1995, he moved to Amarillo, where he attended Trinity Baptist Church. His first wife, Marijo Brown Haile, died in 1976. He married Geneva Moon in 1977 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters; a son; two stepdaughters; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be at 1133 Sterling in Amarillo and suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
