Hanson, Rosie Lee (Valla) age 95 of Temple, formerly of Dallas, died 5/30/09 in the Temple Weston Inn Nursing facility. Rosie was born July 1913 in Smithville, TX, the 4th child of Joseph and Veronica (Martinec) Valla. The couple had immigrated to Texas in 1910 from Czechoslovakia. Rosie married Arthur E. Hanson of Taylor in 1936 and moved to Dallas. Rosie was employed first as a practical nurse at a civilian hospital and then the VA Center. She and Arthur logged in over 67,000 Volunteer hours together at the VA Center. Both were life members of American Legion Aux. 511, Dallas, of VFW 4477, Dallas. Rosie belonged to O.E.S. Chapters 1014 and Eastern Star Duncanville Chapter 1312. Rosie was preceded in death by husband Arthur in 2002; sisters Frances Zak and Albina Sefcik; brothers: Joe Valla, Jr. and Charles Valla. She is survived by brother John Valla of Taylor, sisters-In-law Vera (Roznovak) Hanson and Hilda (Lantzsch) Hanson of Taylor. Nieces: Shirley Zak Woodward (John) of Deming, NM; Marie Morgan (Eugene) in Milano, TX and Johna Graham (Mike) of Irving, TX. Niece Deborah Norman and husband Ron of Temple became Rosie's caretakers when she moved to Temple in 2004. Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel.
