Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent January 1994 Laurella A. McHugh, 67, of Shelton, died Monday, Jan. 17, at the Skilled Nursing Unit of St. Francis Memorial Health Center. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Daniel Bremer will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at ....Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home... Mrs. McHugh was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Norway, Neb., to Lee and Mary (Wyatt) Boren. In her childhood her family moved to Halsey where she attended school and graduated. She started nurses training in 1944 at St. Francis Hospital. She married Jimmy McHugh on July 20, 1946, at Smith Center, Kan. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Grand Island. Survivors include her husband, Jimmie of Shelton; three sons, Jimmie, Tom and Galen, all of Grand Island; two daughters, Sandra Collins of Grand Island and Gloria McHugh of Shelton; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Marylea Standlea of Shelton, Virginia Sullivan of Mullen and Bess Christen of Grand Island and one brother, Jess Boren of Federal Way, Wash. She was preceded in death by one son Larry; one sister, Minnie Troth; a brother, Bob Boren of Halsey and an infant brother.
