Suggested edit: JERRY BORECKY DIES TODAY AT HOSPITAL HERE Well-Known Retired Cotton Belt Man Had Been Ill Three Weeks Jerry Borecky, 76, well known resident of Pine Bluff for 34 years, and for a number of years a popular Cotton Belt employee, died at 7 o’clock this morning at the hospital here, following an illness lasting about three weeks. Mr. Borecky was born on June 10, 1862 at Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late John and Anna Borecky. He came to Arkansas with his parents in 1880 and resided here for several years, later going to Texas, where he lived until coming to Pine Bluff in 1905. Mr. borecky was connected with the Cotton Belt Railway Company, in the Car Department for a number of years, retiring from service in 1922. He was well known here and had many friends because of his genial disposition and his consideration for others. Mr. Borecky is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George R. Hill of this city; three sons, Willie Borecky, Chas. Borecky and Joe Borecky all of this city; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. F. A. Bluerock and Mrs. J. B. Diemer of this city, Mrs. Otto Fleming of Benton, ark., and Mrs. John Lacik of North Little Rock, three brothers, Milosh Borecky of this city, Joe Borecky of Oklahoma City, Okla., and L. J. Borecky of Little Rock, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the chapel of the Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary in charge of the Rev. S. T. Baugh, pastor of the Carr Memorial Methodist Church and the Rev. Harvey T. Whaley, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be on the family lot in Graceland Cemetery in charge of Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary. Active pallbearers will be: H. E. Calvert, Ira Collins, Emil Hercher, John King, Archie Starr, Charles Chatfield, G. G. Hunter, Will Lawton, Wayne E. Simpson, and C. L. Slaughter. Honorary pallbearers will be: Garland Brewster, M. Reinberger, H. Marx, Joe Cook, M. A. Copeland, Dr. E. D. Luck, Sr., M. Hendricks, C. C. Short, H. W. Slaughter, A. E. McClesky, Ed Bumpass, Fred Enderby, Garland May, F. A. Thomas, Frank Hughes, George Gandy, Herchel Duke, Rube Miller, George V. Brown, George Simpson, W. H. Simpson, M. Faucett, Jake Turley, W. A. Mayberry, Met Galligher, Eric Ross and V. H. Eubanks. The body will remain at the chapel of the Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary until Saturday afternoon and will be taken to the home of his son, Willie Borecky, 2006 East Eighth Avenue, and will remain there until funeral time, Sunday afternoon.
