Lawrence Odell “Buddy” McDaniel, 89, of San Benito, Texas entered into rest on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at his home in San Benito. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Luna; son, Rumaldo Villanueva; and his parents, Dan Clinton and Estelle McDaniel. Lawrence (Mac) was a decorated Army Veteran. He received the Bronze Star and served our country for 22 years as an Army Medic. He served one tour of duty in the Vietnam war. Lawrence was the fifth child of eleven children. He was a devoted member of the Rangerville Baptist Church. Lawrence loved to go fishing, working in his garden, and raising animals. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and member of the VFW of San Benito. Visitation will begin Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Cremation will follow in accordance with his wishes. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 3, 2019, at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Thomae-Garza Funeral Home and Crematory, 395 S. Sam Houston, San Benito, Texas, (956) 399-1331.
