Bio

Samuel Parks, "Emmett" to his family was the second son of Will and Willie Ann Griffith Parks. He was the oldest that lived to adult hood. The first born child, a son, John L. Parks, died at the age of 11. The circumstances or whereabouts of this young lad are unknown to this researcher. Emmett married three times and had children with the first wife and the third wife. The first wife was Minnie Bost. They married Aug 1911. They had three children. They were Leonard, Lillian, and Merle. The second wife was Willie Mae Nelson. They married about 1920 and they had one daughter, Verba May. The third wife was Lima Lyn Donahoe. They married about 1930. They had four children. Names withheld. Emmett was musically inclined something this line of Parks did not inherit. From "Uncle Roy's" stories, "Emmett played the guitar and the fiddle." The picture I have of the family, with the sons grown, I can see they were strong people. I developed a kinship with this family from "Uncle Roy's stories" that was passed down and shared with me. Their father had a lot of strength to survive all that he endured during those War torn days. It would have been easy to become bitter and mean. When you talk to the family there were lots of love passed down. blw
