Bio
Darlene Marie Ellis, 91, of Whiting, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Pleasant View Assisted Living in Whiting. Darlene was born on January 5, 1928, in Ceresco, Nebraska, to Louis and Mary (Pokorny) Stanislav. She graduated from Onawa High School in Onawa, Iowa. Darlene and Dayle Ellis were united in marriage on January 9, 1947, at St. John Catholic Church in Onawa. The couple made their home in the Whiting area where they were lifelong farmers. They enjoyed dancing, spending time with friends, and wintering in Florida for 33 years. Dayle preceded her in death on March 17, 2008. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, reading, and playing cards. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include three sons and their spouses, Michael and Lois Ellis of Onawa, IA, Gary and Linda Ellis of Whiting, IA, and Loren and Deb Ellis of Independence, IA; two daughters and their spouses, Annette and Vance Linden of Whiting, IA and Mary and Jim Parker of Sloan, IA; grandchildren, Scott, Phillip, and Nicole Ellis, Amy Klocke, Dr. James Ellis, Jenny Beatty, Michael Ellis, Michelle Rich, Leslie Langum, Paige Keller, Reid Linden, and Megan Chizek, Joanna Konczal, and Mitchell Parker; great-grandchildren, Andrew Sack, Emma Ellis Sack, Megan, Katie, and Luke Ellis, Ashton, Connel, and Trevor Beatty, Andrew and Lauren Klocke, Cal Chizek and baby Chizek due in August, Rose and James Konczal, Violet Keller, and baby Ellis due in October; and siblings, Marge Parks of Whiting, IA, Phyllis Camacho of Memphis, TN, and Bob (Karon) Stanislav of Woodbine, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary (Pokorny) Stanislav; husband, Dayle Ellis; granddaughter, Angie Ellis; and brothers-in-law, Dr. A.M. Camacho and Wayne Parks.
