Bio

Married Feb. 28, 1943 Martha Louise Whitman, 74, of Amarillo, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Chapel of Memories at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Jerry Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Whitman was born in Royse City and moved to Amarillo in 1959. She was a housewife. She married James P. Whitman in 1943 at Denton. Her daughter, Beth Butcher, died in 1995. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Paula Roberts of Amarillo; a son, James Whitman of Amarillo; three sisters, Margaret Quackenbush, Ann Youngkin and Mary Barnett, all of Garland; two brothers, Wayne Blount of San Antonio and David Blount of California; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to BSA Hospice. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Dec. 10, 2000
