SALIX, Iowa | Roger Rand, 72, of Salix, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at a Sioux City hospital. Memorial services will be held 11 am Friday, September 2, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Luncheon will be afterward at the Gun Club in Salix, Iowa. Roger Eilert Rand was born on January 25, 1944 in Blair, Nebraska the son of Eilert and Hattie (Plummer) Rand. He graduated in 1962 from the Missouri Valley High School. Roger then attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. He worked for a short time at Consumer Supply Company in Storm Lake until moving to the Salix area where he farmed. In 1964 he was married to Marsha Killpack. They were later divorced. Roger has been the local Drainage Board president for the past decade. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, and during his younger years, enjoyed golf and fishing. Roger is survived by his 2 sons; his 2 daughters; significant other of 27 years Connie Anderson; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
