I could find no stone for Christopher just the large family stone.
Sullivan Progress 12/2/1921 Chris Monroe died Thursday.Farmer who has long been in failing health dropped dead in his yard. Chris Monroe Sr. a well known farmer residing about 7 miles northwest of Sullivan, died suddenly in the yard of his home Thursday morning between the hours of 9 and 10 oclock. Mr.Monroe who has been in ill health for some years was out in the yard as usual before the stroke which claimed him. He was born near Sullivan 76 years ago and leaves many close relatives and friends. The exact time for the funeral had not been set at time of going to press,but if arrangements can be completed it will be held Sunday. Sullivan Progress 12/1921 Christopher Monroe was born in Moultrie county,Jan.27,1845 and spent his entire life near the place of his birth. On July 12,1868 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Alexander and to them were born nine children, four of which died when quit young. The surviving are E.J.Monroe of Texarkana, Ark, Clara and Doll at home and Mrs. Mayme Fultz and Mrs.Zoe Michael of Decatur. Mr. Monroe was one of a family of 10 children all of whom were present at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the youngest. The circle was broke in a few weeks by the death of a sister, Mrs. Ellen Wright and a few years later by the death of a brother,William Henry Monroe.The surviving are Thomas, Isaac,George,Millard,John Edward and one sister,Mrs.Julia McCraig. There also survives eight grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mr.Monroe was a prosperous farmer and a splendid citizen. He early in life became a member of the Masonic lodge and has during the years remained a loyal member of that organization. He was also a member of the Christian church at Sullivan and as the end of life drew near was confident of the future.
