Alan Arthur Kelso of Warrensburg passed away June 12, 2019. He resided in the Missouri State Veterans home in Warrensburg. Alan was born on 29 September 1931 in Wasta, South Dakota to the late John Kelso and Martha Whitted Kelso. Alan was the third of 12 siblings. The family moved to Missouri in 1935. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years Fannie L. (Hibdon) Kelso and infant son Steven Gail Kelso. Alan was a 1949 graduate of Stover, Missouri High School immediately enlisting in the United States Army upon graduating. When asked why he joined the Army he liked to say, I got tired of milking those damn cows! His military service, 1949-1952, included 18 months in Korea during the Korean War. He always said he was never colder than the winter of 1950-51. Upon discharge he returned to Missouri where he married his life-long love on 25 March 1955. The family moved to Kansas City in 1962 where he worked for Devine Lighting until retiring in 1995. Alan and Fannie moved to the Warrensburg area in 1984. Alan is survived by sons Michael (Lynnette), Calvin (Lynda) and Richard (Joyce). His pride was his grandchildren Katie (Andrew), Sarah (Carson), Shelby (Haylee), Darby (Nick), great-granddaughter Bella and great-grandson Ryan. He is also survived by his siblings Viola Casey, Leah Burns, George (Delphia), Don, Wilda Bogle, Carl (Linda), and sisters in law Shirley Kelso and Alice Hibdon. Not to mention the many nephews, nieces and a lifetime of friends especially Ralph and Wilma Rennison. He is predeceased by his siblings, John, David, James, Ruth Farr, Wanda Thompson and brothers in law Don Casey, Arnold Burns, Carl Thompson, Jim Bogle, Joe Farr, George W. Hibdon and sisters in law Marlene Kelso and Doris Kelso. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Chaplain John Roberts officiating. Casket Bearers will be Mike Kelso, Calvin Kelso, Richard Kelso, Shelby Kelso, Leslie Kelso and Eugene Rennison. Interment will follow at Centerview Cemetery. Famiy will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg. Memorial Contributions may be left to the Warrensburg Veterans Home in care of Williams Funeral Chapel.
