MILLIE SVATEK WHARTON — Millie Svatek, 90, of Wharton died in Hillje Friday, Sept. 6, 1991, following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 17, 1900, in Shiner to the late John and Aloisia Kurtz. She married Jim Svatek on Oct. 16, 1923, in Shiner and was a homemaker, 57 year resident of Wharton County, having lived in Iago, Bonus, Nada and Wharton. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the KJZT Society No. 95, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Christian Mother's Society and the Altar Society of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors: Daughters, Benita McBride of Galveston and Verna Hubenak of El Campo; sons, Henry J. Svatek of Wharton, Victor L. Svatek of Pasadena, and Paul A. Svatek of Wharton; sister, Stacy Frick of Shiner; brother, John Kurtz of Cuero; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. Visitation from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home chapel, Rosary 5 p.m. Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home chapel, Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, the Revs. Lawrence Matula, Joseph Hybner, Joe Koebel and Ray Jackson officiating. Burial In Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Wharton Funeral Home, Wharton, (409) 532-3410.
