MILLIE SVATEK WHARTON — Millie Svatek, 90, of Wharton died in Hillje Friday, Sept. 6, 1991, following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 17, 1900, in Shiner to the late John and Aloisia Kurtz. She married Jim Svatek on Oct. 16, 1923, in Shiner and was a homemaker, 57 year resident of Wharton County, having lived in Iago, Bonus, Nada and Wharton. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the KJZT Society No. 95, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Christian Mother's Society and the Altar Society of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survivors: Daughters, Benita McBride of Galveston and Verna Hubenak of El Campo; sons, Henry J. Svatek of Wharton, Victor L. Svatek of Pasadena, and Paul A. Svatek of Wharton; sister, Stacy Frick of Shiner; brother, John Kurtz of Cuero; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. Visitation from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home chapel, Rosary 5 p.m. Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home chapel, Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, the Revs. Lawrence Matula, Joseph Hybner, Joe Koebel and Ray Jackson officiating.
