Paul H. Meyer, 83, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019. He was born on September 6, 1935, in Bonnots Mill, Missouri, a son of the late Edward H. and Helen (Voss) Meyer. After the death of his mother, Paul was raised by Pauline (Burkett) Meyer. Paul was a member of Immaculate Conception and St. Peter Catholic Churches. During his early years of school, he attended St. George Catholic Church in Linn, Missouri. He graduated from Linn High School in 1955. Paul took pride in hard work. At a young age, just into double digits, he worked at Ashley Creamery Dairy, in Linn. After graduation, he worked for Howerton Electric until he founded his own company, Meyer Electric, on October 9, 1968. He was the heart and soul of Meyer Electric for over 50 years. Shortly after a long deserved retirement, he bought a house in Sun City, Arizona. During Missouri's cold winter months he spent time there with his dear friend and companion, Edith Seales. It was in his home there where he peacefully passed away in his sleep. Paul had enjoyed a full life with friends and family. He traveled the world. There weren't many places Paul hadn't been. He was a collector of art, antiques and foreign cars. His appreciation for aesthetics and keen eye for detail attributed to his fine collection of so many things. He especially enjoyed attending car shows and fishing. Paul cherished time spent with his family. He always had colorful stories to tell. Holidays were treasured times, church summer picnics, and yearly family outings to Rock Bridge in Ava, Missouri for trout fishing. Paul was an exuberant and fun loving man. Lively with stories and humor, he never met a stranger. There weren't enough hours in the day to accommodate his energy. He was an avid reader and had many interests and special hobbies. His family claims he had a heart of gold and was the most generous man ever. To his kids he was larger than life, they love him and will miss him dearly. Paul is survived by: his daughter, Lisa Meyer Brinkley of Overland Park, Kansas; son, Steven Meyer (Cheryl) of Jefferson City, Missouri; sister: Rose Marie Huckstep (Gary) of Linn, Missouri; grandchildren: Dustin, Susan and Victor, all of Jefferson City, Missouri; nephews: Terry E. Nilges of Iowa, Jerry R. Nilges and K.P. Nilges, both of Linn. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Jean (Gueutal) Meyer; and son, Jeffrey Paul Meyer. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Inurnment will be private for the family at a later date. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Common Ground Community Building for tornado and flood relief.
