Bio

LEWIS L. DEBUSK SUCCUMBS TO INJURY Saturday morning, October 10, Lewis L. DeBusk passed away at tho Loup City hospital where he was taken the afternoon of August 26, when he was injured in an auto accident near the city limits of Loup City. When he was first taken to the hospital it was thought his spinal cord was severed in the back. However, an examination by a specialist in such cases and an x-ray picture revealed that he had an impacted fracture of a vertebra in the neck. This caused a pinching of the spinal cord and practically prevented a circulation of the spinal fluid. The nature of the injury was such that he did not suffer pain but gradually his life kept nearing its close until death came to relieve him from his utter helplessness. Following his death, Fay Spooner went to Loup City and brought the body to Sargent and prepared it for burial at his undertaking department. The funeral was held at the Christian church at two o'clock Monday afternoon the seating capacity of the church being entirely used. Fay Spooner was the funeral director and Rev. C. M. Estabrook had charge of the services, and preached the funeral sermon. The singing was by a mixed quartette composed of Earnest F. Morris, Mrs. Wm. R. Kidder, Mrs. H. T. Olson, and Guy E. Livermore. Miss Doris Estabrook was at the piano. The songs used were "When They Ring Those Golden Bells," "Beautiful Isle," and "Asleep In Jesus." The pall bearers were Bert Amos, Leroy Todd, George Semler, Ted Amos, George Jensen, and Roy P. Leach. Interment was made in the West Union cemetery.
