Pat Allen Avey, 79, of Kearney, NE went to meet the Savior on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in Imperial. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 31, 2019 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3315 11th Avenue, Kearney, NE 68845, with Pastor Duane Duley officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery near Ravenna. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Pat was born in Dunning, NE on September 13, 1939 to Ralph and Martha (Sanders) Avey. He attended grade and junior high school in Ansley and Alliance, NE. Pat graduated from Ravenna High School in 1957. He served his country in the Army for 3 years and then graduated from Kearney State College in 1965, where he graduated with an Education Degree. He taught high school PE and health, coached many sports at the high school, college, and semi-pro levels, taught drivers' education, and had a positive impact on many students and adults in Pleasanton, Gibbon, Superior, and Kearney, NE, and Burlington, KS, totaling approximately 40 years. He married his wife, DeEnna (Dusek), on March 13, 1959. Pat is survived by his wife DeEnna, 4 children: Peg Avey of Brewster, NY, Kim Marshall of Imperial, NE, Bryant Avey of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Lyn Hoffman of Kearney, NE and 5 grandchildren: Alex Marshall, Patrick Avey, I'Mari Avey, Christian Avey, and Jeremiah Hoffman. He is also survived by 3 brothers: Loren Avey of Grand Island, NE, Cliff Avey of Kearney, NE, Ron Avey of Mandan, ND and 1 sister: Jean Newby of Cameron, MO, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat was a faithful husband and loving father and grandfather. His love, leadership, and friendship will be greatly missed. Pat was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mick.
