Bio

Helen Fay Detterman, 84, of Robinson, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Leibham officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Detterman was born in Waxahachie, Texas, to the late James and Ollie (Day) Vestal. She attended schools in Waxahachie. Helen was united in marriage to Herbert A. Detterman on Jan. 4, 1941, in Waxahachie. They lived in West, Texas, before moving to Corpus Christi in 1952. While there she worked for The Mend It Shop in the early 1960s where she learned the embroidery trade. In 1972 they moved to Austin for three years before moving to Robinson. She was a seamstress and owner and operator of H & H Embroidery Shop in Waco for over 25 years before retiring in 2005. Helen was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. Helen is preceded in death by her brothers, James Vestal and George Vestal. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, Herbert A. Detterman, of Robinson; daughter, Gloria Jean Detterman, of West; son, Ron J. Detterman and wife, Judy, of Lacy Lakeview; brother, Charles Vestal, of Waco; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
