Bio

Genora Rejcek Kriska, 93, of Ennis, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, surrounded by her family. Burial will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum in Dallas. Genora was born on May 25, 1925, in Itasca, Texas, the older of two daughters born to the late Ernest and Edna Taylor. She was a graduate of Crozier Tech High School in Dallas and went on to work for Nationwide Paper Company in Dallas as the switchboard operator until her retirement in 1990. Genora often shared that her greatest joy was being a mother to Nodya, and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Genora’s life centered around her home. She loved being a mother and wife, spending time with her family and friends, entertaining and hosting gatherings at her home, gardening, cooking, traveling, going to the casinos, polka dancing, attending festivals, listening to live music, and keeping up with the latest trends in fashion. Genora was an early riser just to make sure she had picked out the perfect outfit for the day complete with complimenting hair, makeup, and accessories. Active in her community, Genora was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Dallas, St. John Catholic Church in Ennis, Catholic Daughters, Ennis Garden Club, and held a lifetime membership in SPJST Lodge 84, and KJT Lodge No. 111 in Dallas. Genora’s love and kindness were felt by all who knew her. She is a shining example of one that lives each day to the fullest, and she joyfully shared her energy and spirit with all those she met. We will always treasure her wisdom, knowledge, faith, and her sense of stylish flair! Genora was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Jerome Rejcek; and husband of 26 years, Bernard Kriska. Survivors include her daughter, Nodya Thornton and her husband, Bill, of Royse City; grandchildren: Aaron Leigh and Duane Zepeda, of Plano, and Matthew and Natasha Thornton, of Houston; great-grandchildren: Violet and Everett Zepeda, of Plano; sister, Jimmie Doris McLeland, of Grand Prairie; five sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and many special nieces, nephews, cherished family members, and friends.
